Artist's Comments

Taken last sunday on Dartmoor - testing out my new red filter.

As I was climbing around on the rocks, looking for a good shot of whatever I could find, I glanced back and saw my brother sitting on this hill, and a couple of perfect clouds next to him.

Enjoy.

wow, that totally looked like a drawing from the thumbnail. I think it's the extreme contrast on the figure that did it  Nice shot though - very expressive and the black and white helps in that respect

:) Thanks, Luke.

Very well composed, love the pose too :) Not that he was posing for you, I'm sure =p but you know what I mean. Powerful shot, probably because of the structural-ness / simplicity of the composition, if you know what I'm getting at.

Thanks a lot :)

You're going to hate me for this, and probably kick yourself, but... structural-ness = structure. I think we've all done that sort of double bluff when wording before :D

Lol well I don't really mean simply structure, I suppose the way to properly phrase it would be "the way the structural elements of the shot & its composition stand on their own as a feature & are uncharacteristically strong compared to other photographs". Don't ya just hate it when they haven't yet invented the word you're looking for =p

Hehe I get ya ;D

Great picture. Red filter and Dartmoor ought to be worth a distinction! How are you scanning the image (I presume this is still from b&w film)?
